My little sister is engaged, folks.
It is really weird for me to see my forever “baby” sister grow up and reach new life milestones. She will always be remembered as the little one that plastered my precious sticker collection all over my writing desk and ate my Halloween candy when I was away in school. Somewhere along the way, she grew up and became my best friend and confidant. Regardless of how old she makes me feel seeing her grow up, I am also very excited for her to begin a new chapter of life with her fiancé, soon to be husband.
When she sent me these photographs from her engagement session with Abbi Hearne, I was blown away by the beautiful images that really showcased the stunning desert backdrop and lighting, and of course, the darling couple. Abbi did such a wonderful job capturing these two lovebirds in the desert:
When my sister decided to do her engagement session in Joshua Tree National Park, I knew I wanted to create some calligraphy details to incorporate into the photoshoot. My vision was to create something soft and lyrical, with neutral colors that blend into the desert landscape. I decided to go with a neutral gray palette, with pops of mint green and black ink. (Though I didn't know it at the time, the desert is filled with shades of gray - as shown here.) I selected a portion of the lyrics from Nature Boy by Nat King Cole (you may recognize it from the movie Moulin Rouge). I also had vintage cacti stamps leftover from my wedding invitations that fit in perfectly with the desert backdrop.
My favorite images of the calligraphy details were the ones that included my sister and her fiancé. These were such a joy to create, even more so because they were for my baby sis. More images can be seen here.
Hope you enjoyed the images - Happy Friday, friends!
